Latest project

I love this effect on canvas, I put black and white portraits onto tissue paper and then glazed it with copper but then of course my printer went out while trying to print my oldest son's... i also added lyrics of songs that belong to each kiddo...meaningful memories!

I know that quotes are becoming a little cliche...but i love them.  I plan to use this one for a painting, a friend of mine did a painting that started with my children just painting on a canvas.  My friend turned the spots of color into flowers.  Now I want to add a quote.  I believe this is the quote.  Adding my love for Victor Hugo...and then wanting something to inspire not only me but my kids....It's pretty perfect!

complete

the mini mudroom is finished and I love it.  I wonder if anyone can tell that the two boxes at the bottom....are actually spray painted diaper boxes (laquer spray paint...shiny and dries fast)  i just adore'ned with orange damask'ish fabric.    Didn't need to be fancy....there are shoes in the box as well as totes for our lil' scouts.

i love it!

Ch Ch Changes...

When you are a parent, a woman...it is very difficult to manage being creative....being a mom...a friend.  I am not a very good friend, apparently.  But I realize now that its probably not about being a "friend"...granted because we are woman...we can't help but be caddy.  Until someone mentions the word "cancer" to you.   Now....right now...we are waiting for the results but we also heard the word "beniegn" a lot.  so I think it is fine.  But point being even there mere thought...possiblity...it puts your brain in a weird place.  I am going to try delve in to working.  as an artist...my insporation from diffenent things now...but here is a peice I did...its not differnet from anything else I did...however when i was dabbing the round sponge....i was thinking of my family...my sick Grandfather (who has so my illnesses i can't even remember), my Grandmother who passed of lung cancer, and my past friends who have lost the battle with thier illnesses.   And here I am...worried about what MIGHT be my diagnoses...i still want to add a phrase or word to this peice...but to know the copper effects are done in memory those lost...makes this piece  very special.

This takes time...

I am trying!  I really am, one of these blogs HAS to work right?  I have been working hard to keep inspired and have back up creative ideas, but I become so overwhelmed that I just sit there.  Yellow Lotus' first project was a fundraiser for GSNETX.  It was so great.  I felt in my element as I drew one massive tree on 100 canvases.   Each girl got to add color to her canvas...making each canvas her own, once displayed the complete work was awesome!

I have also found inspiration on Pintrest...of course (who hasn't?)  I am excited to get started on some inspirational canvas pieces but here is something I am particularly excited about....
Instead of using the "places" i would be the "Family Rules" phrases on the wood.

I am meeting with the principal of a preschool and hopefully set up another opportunity for another canvas project... wish me luck!
